Radio Drama teaches a Teenager to Dream

Himani Bohora (Heena Bohora) of Kanchanpur never thought that she would get a mobile phone even after listening to a radio drama. When she heard that she had received a smart phone as prize after listening to the drama, at first, she could not believe it. Something much unexpected happened to Bohora. She won the mobile phone because she listened to the radio drama Rope Guna Fal. Now she has the same winning smartphone in her hand. The photo taken here of Himani is with the same phone.
 
The prize distribution program was held at the office of Radio Mahakali, Mahendranagar,Kanchanpur. Himani's father and mother were also present in the program.
Himani is now 14 years old. She is studying in class 9 at Jesis High School in Rajipur of Bhimdatta Municipality, Kanchanpur. She likes to write poetry. She recites the poem she has written at school. Besides, she loves to watch movies and listen to songs. She sometimes used to listen to the radio, but now she listens regularly.
Going to school and helping the family; Himani’s days are spent on these main tasks. She often listens to the radio at home. While listening to radio, she likes to listen to songs and plays.
 
One day in the first week of Chaitra, she was listening to Mahakali FM on radio at home. The conversation on the radio grabbed her attention. She turned her ears to the radio. She really liked the dialogue said in a dramatic way where it was mentioned that the radio serial drama Rope Guna Fal can be heard every Monday and Thursday from 8:15 am to 8:30 am.
 
Out of curiosity, Himani waited for Monday. Until Monday, she repeatedly listened to the promo of radio drama of Rope Guna Fal. Listening to that dialogue and promo, she became even more curious. And she waited and listened to the drama on the radio.
 
‘The drama touched my heart when I first heard it. I started listening on Thursday also and I liked the drama very much’, Himani says.
Then she began to listen the radio drama Rope Guna Fal again on Thursday. While listening to Thursday's episode, she noticed a question asked there. ‘While answering that question, 4 people were announced as winners through a lucky draw. All the winners get a recharge of Rs. 200. And, after becoming a super winner, mobile phones are also available’, says Himani, recalling that moment. ‘After listening that on the radio drama, I also wanted to answer the question that day. I recorded the answer to the question and sent to the number mentioned there.’
 
From then on, she started listening to drama regularly. She also started sending answers to questions regularly. Himani started liking Kusum's character in the drama because she finds herself in Kusum. In the play, Kusum go to school, writes poetry, and recites. In real life, Himani is also like that.
She was listening to the radio drama Rope Guna Fal. One day while listening to a drama, she heard her own name on the radio. Where it was said, "Heena Bohora of Kanchanpur has become the winner for this week on radio drama Rope Guna Fal." That day she won a recharge card of Rs. 200 with congratulations.
This was the first such incident in her life. So she was very happy that moment. She shared that at home. The next day, she received a recharge of Rs. 200 on her mobile phone which was sent by Antenna Foundation Nepal. The Antenna Foundation produces the radio drama Rope Guna Fal. The drama is broadcasted on more than 100 radio stations across the country.
 
Himani has five members in her family including mother, father, brother and grandmother. Her father is an electrician and her mother is a housewife. They live in Gauji, Ward no. 8 of Vedkot Municipality, Kanchanpur. Everyone in family was very happy hearing that she became a quiz winner.
Himani wants to be a writer like Kusum. That is why she has become a regular listener of the drama. Kusum's story inspires her to dream. It teaches her to think that if you do, everything is possible. She is getting positive energy from Kusum.
 
In the meantime, she got another call from Antenna Foundation Nepal. At that time, it was reported that she became the super winner. At first, Himani did not believe because it was something unexpected. When she told this to her father, he even congratulated her saying, "You are very lucky." Himani is the first super winner of the radio drama Rope Guna Fal.
Himani says, ‘Rope Guna Fal radio drama is very good. All of you listen’. The characters and themes of the drama seem like the story of their own village. There are so many good things in the play. How to take care of a child, how to fulfill the responsibilities of a parent, how children can help in a family, overall radio drama teaches a teenager to dream. That is why everyone should listen radio drama Rope Guna Fal produced by Antenna Foundation Nepal.
