Swasthyaka Lagi Radio Bahas

Antenna Foundation Nepal launched Swasthyaka  Lagi Radio Bahas (‘Radio Dialogue for Health’) program funded by USAID/H4L in January 2017 and continued till December 2017. The major aim of the project was to improve local health governance system in 14 districts of the mid-and far-western region of Nepal, through public hearing.
This project is a continuation of the earlier Jivanka Lagi Swasthya ('Health for Life')program also conducted and broadcast by AFN through its 28 partner radio stations from the project districts namley, Jumla, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Salyan, Dang, Arghakhanchi, Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Kapilvastu, Surkhet, Banke and Bardiya.
Under this project, AFN conducted a total of 281 public hearings —two public hearings in 10 then VDCs of each of the 14 districts. Each public hearing episode was broadcast from the respective partner radio stations. Likewise, 18 TV public hearing episodes were also broadcast, and one TV documentary was made featuring the discussions.
The program brought the general public and key local stakeholders of the public health sector, including officials from District Health Offices, District Public Health Offices, representatives from local governments and in-charges of health posts, on to a platform to discuss existing health-related issues. The dialogue was intended to make the public aware about local health services, and to make the service providers and regulators responsive and accountable to public health.
