Mai Sari Sunakhari Radio Drama

Mai Sari Sunakhari (‘Orchid, Like Me’) is a Nepali language radio serial drama produced by Antenna Foundation Nepal in partnership with Population Media Centre (PMC). The drama has a total of 208 episodes. The airing of this drama along with the 106 episodes Maithili language Hilkorradio drama, started in April 2016 and will continue till April 2018.
The drama is currently being broadcast through Radio Nepal, Kantipur FM and Ujjyalo 90 Network nationally through Ujyaalo 90 FM and locally through 40 radio stations of CNN network and other more than 40 radio stations in partnership with AFN across the country, with primary focus on mid-western and far-western regions. 
Mai Sari Sunakhari radio drama addresses Nepal's social issues related with child marriage, gender violence, reproductive health, nutrition and migration. It intends to engage audiences, introduce ideas, and empower people to make better-informed decisions creating tremendous social change.

Under this project, AFN conducted a total of 281 public hearings —two public hearings in 10 then VDCs of each of the 14 districts. Each public hearing episode was broadcast from the respective partner radio stations. Likewise, 18 TV public hearing episodes were also broadcast, and one TV documentary was made featuring the discussions.
The program brings the general public and key local stakeholders of the health sector, including officials from District Health Offices, District Public Health Offices, representatives from local governments and in-charges of health posts, on to a platform to discuss the existing health-related issues. The dialogue is intended to make the public aware about local health services, and to make the service providers and regulators responsive and accountable to public health issues.
